5 Months!!!

Ben turned five months old on Saturday! Here are his quick stats:

Sleep: 7 pm to 7 am most nights and 3-4 one hour naps per day
Eating: Formula and rice cereal. He's also tried a bite of sweet potatoes.
Onesie size: 9-12 months

His favorite way of communicating now is by blowing raspberries (see video). He's also learned how to make a screeching noise - he doesn't seem particularly annoyed or upset when he does it. We much prefer the raspberries :). He's also starting to make "B" sounds as well, so says "ba" or "buh" a lot.

Ben's really working on sitting up by himself - today he was able to stay seated for at least a minute on his own. He's still a pro at rolling from back to his belly, but still hasn't gone the other way. Much to our relief he's started actually enjoying tummy time instead of crying as soon as he gets himself in that position. He still loves being read to, although we're having a hard time convincing him that books should be read and not eaten.

It's finally cooled down in Phoenix! We have spent the last few weekends walking around the Desert Botanical Gardens and just generally enjoying being out of the house. Ben has started daycare on Thursdays and Fridays each week. He was a little bit of a mess on his first day. Apparently he started an infant room meltdown by getting overly excited and "growling" some hanging toys. This caused his friend Quinn to cry, which caused him to cry, which caused everyone else to cry. His caregiver had to call in backup. LOL. I haven't heard him growl - maybe it was one of his screeches or a particularly aggressive grunt? Fortunately he's been pretty good since the first day, although he's still adjusting a bit.

Lastly, we want to say thank you to all of our friends who are parents who have given us advice. Bethany, Ryan, Whitney, Joanna, Grant, Henni, Aaron... the list goes on. It's difficult having an infant in a new city - I'm not sure what we would have done without your help!
